How to Decorate With a Rocking Chair
Decorating with a rocking chair is a great idea, especially if the chair holds sentimental value. You can decorate a room with the chair as a focal point; this looks fabulous with antique rocking chairs or family heirlooms.
First: Position the chair
A great rocking chair should have a prime spot to ensure that it draws the eye of anyone entering the room. Placing it in the first corner you see when entering a room is a good option, as is placing it in front of another focal point like a bay window or fireplace. Make sure that the other furniture in the room complement the chair, and consider only using wood pieces in the same finish to make the room more attractive.
Second: Accessorize with paint and pillows
Paint the room a color that brings out the finish in the rocking chair. A cherry wood chair looks great with reddish browns, while a honey colored chair looks better with lighter colors. If you are using wallpaper, get a paper that fits the style of the chair. An old-fashioned chair with a lot of details looks best with floral-patterns and more traditional styles of wallpaper. Pillows are also a great addition to a rocking chair, and can tie the decor together. Easily toss a few throw pillows onto the chair that match the upholstery of the other furniture or hue of the walls.
